There's always a risk of movement if there aren't adequate retention devices used.

I don't know if leaving them on would have done too much to prevent it, other than increase the possibility for root resorption.

You'll notice that there's a lot of faster techniques coming out, such as Dr. Rick's six month braces and the one that uses the triangular brackets.

It's all about the retention devices!
