Hi, Julia -- I got my spacers in 3 weeks ago and the first day was fine. The second day through about the seventh it was a little painful to eat chewy or crunchy things. But that was the only time it was really uncomfortable -- when I was biting down hard with my molars, so I kept to softer foods and it wasn't bad at all. People's experiences with spacers seem to vary greatly and you might stay pain-free, but don't be surprised if day two is less comfortable.
