For me, it didn't hurt the day they went in, but it hurt the day after. The pain gradually subsided, and by day 4, I was eating crunchy things again pain free. By the end, I didn't notice the spacers. So when the assistant pulled them out, I didn't feel that relief that many people talk about.

I'm on day 2 of braces, and my teeth are definitely less sore than they were on day 2 of spacers. So, it's not so bad.
