Hi,
I had a lingual Expander. It was placed to help correct the tilting of my lower teeth and a cross bite. I also had an upper lingual expander (I do not know what it was for) it got removed early because the connector on the band broke off. I have been with out the lower expander for about 4 weeks now, it was taken out because my ortho has started me on rubber bands to correct my over bite. I had the lower expander in for a total of about 6 months, I had one adjustment to it (all my ortho did was widen it so instead of just sitting in my mouth it was now closer to my gums in the front). I did have more irritation to my tongue when the expander was in at first then I have now since it was taken out.
