As long as your mouth lining is raw and sore, it won't heal with more irritation. You have to keep the irritation away. With the elastics that rubbed the inside of my mouth and wax wouldn't stick to them since they were moveable, I ended up putting clean gauze over them! It looked ridiculous with padded cheeks, and I was able to stay home, thank goodness, but it let the raw spots heal. Then, the places inside your mouth lining scar, and are tough enough to take irritation later. Also, your teeth/brackets are moving, so soon that particular spot won't be so directly irritated.
