The biggest problem with the retainers are you forget or don't want to wear them. Some people find it ackward to speak with them in. I think there a bigger pain, the braces are put on and that's it. You can't remove them, sit on them, leave them somewhere, forget to wear them, etc. I got use to the braces very quickly and forgot I even had them. The retainers are different because you have to remember to wear them, etc. Unless your doc does the bonded kind. So in that respect braces are a lot easier. Make sure you do wear them, I didn't like I should have and probably need braces again to tweak my teeth a bit.
