I had my 4 first mollars extracted (the theeth number 6 from the center). You cannot see the gaps unless you smile really wide - hollywood smile :) Though I would say it is quite difficult to eat since the food always gets stuck on those big gaps and very hard to chew.
Also braces get broken quite often when you bite on something harder like meat. The wire comes off from the 2nd mollar band.
