Maybe nothing is required. I had 3 different cross-bites when I started a year ago. I never had any molar build ups or anything else and my teeth still shifted into the right place. I did have one lingual button on my very last molar on the top. I wore an elastic from the inside of the top tooth to the outside of a bottom tooth to finish pulling that one tooth out. Worked like a charm. You may wind up getting some additional stuff for your cross bite but you might not.
