For a cavity on top of the tooth the wire doesnt need to be removed.

If it is inbetween the teeth the wire needs to come out since they but a matrix band around the tooth to pace the filling inbetween. If the wire is there they cant place the filling. The wire exerting force wouldnt be a factor but the ability to plase it would be.
