Hi Capt,

Sure I'll tell you all thats been done so far, no extractions needed as i lost.or never got certain teeth,dr thinks i lost the ones next to top pointy ones.(canines?),also had one space on top left b4 pre molar? and one tooth missing from lower right side right b4 1st molar.. for the 1st 3 mths i only had Niti wires top and bottom, i think to at least get most teeth lined up before,he added elastics..

when i 1st got elastics he gave me 3/4' 'bears' (my ortho uses Ormco stuff),they seemed to work ok for a few mths, until one day i had to go in for a emercency consult, was 2nd time top wire broke, my reg ortho was away so hi's partner in crime LOL .afixed the new wire but he made it .20x.20 stainless steel (very stiff and ouchies for a week),and also said lets "crank it up" , must be his favourite saying his said it on both times ive seen him :P...he gave me two sizes of elastics 3/4'bears' and 3/16' 'inpalas' ,and said if you can handle the pull of these stronger elastics stick with them if not use the 3/4's i stuck with the 3/16's they only let me open my mouth about 10mill max, very strong pull .he also added powerchains same time elastics and two front hooks put on. top have been goin from 8 links to 6 links ,lower always has 6 link chain.. ,,oh before i forget when using the extra strong impalas i did break the two wire hooks he made the presure was big on them thin wires, the elastics would pull the hooks outwards and stick a fair way into my lip,i had to push wires back towards teeth, maybe that weakened them somewhat but ,i had two permanent holes in lower lip :-O and they hurt no matter what i used, wax.meds from my MD nothin

i took over a year of then two strenth elastics to finnaly get top teeth over lowers, it got frustrating a lot of the time, i would go to sleep and wake with my upper fronts tettering on going infront of lowers, only to eat or talk during the day,and slowly watch uppers slide backwards behind lowers, then one day i woke and my upper fronts were firmly in front of lowers, and i must say so far since getting braced 23mths ago thats been the happiest day ,i cried i was so happy , that my mouth is almost normal. and as it stands now no elastics been on for over 12 weeks, and teeth are leveling out excelent, all along the the arches teeth are settling in agaisnt each other great ,i can bite down now and all tetth meet at same time :) , i dont know if you can see in latest pic but top teeth almost go over lower brackets.they actualy hit them, it sounds eww when if bite thru stuff and the teeth hit the metal, but so far none have been bitten off,i think its because nearly all the top front 6 tetth all hit/rest on lower brackets.

i go back to ortho on monday for latest ajustment, ill let ya know what the G.O is :)

hope this is of some usefull info, and hope you dont need surgey, BTW ortho said 18 to 20 mths is the average time in braces but! (theres always a but isn't there). he said adults in his experience tend to take upto a 3rd longer so if thats right im lookin at almost 6 more mths with these on my teeth, but in all honesty i dont care if they on for 2 more yrs if they give me and my ortho the results we want... ive waited 36 yrs to have a nice normal smile and its so gonna be worth it :)

take care capt, and keep smiling
Marky™
