I don't think it is journalistic exaggeration but maybe the Dutch translator made a mistake. UK Size 13 translates to European size 50. US size 13 translates to 48.

As I already said before, there is no doubt Fischer has extra ordinary large feet. Petra Dautov tells in her book how they had to search to find shoes that fitted Fischer�s large feet. That means he does not has a standard size because most shoe shops have size 46 in stock.

The funny thing is that my statement �Rita's story misses controllable facts so there is nothing to refute� is not completely true. Her story contains exactly ONE controllable fact and that happens to be Fischer�s shoe size! Since she got that wrong there are only two possibilities left:

- Rita is really delusional. She imagined the marriage and in her fantasy Fischer did not have extra-ordinary large feet.
- Rita met imposter with shoe-size 10, who said he was Bobby Fischer.

Which of the two options do you find most likely?

Look at these pictures of Fischer and you will find Fischer indeed has huge feet:
