Why do you think he read the FBI files or any articles himself? Perhaps somebody told him about that and Bebchuck remembered that he had asked Joan Targ a few questions. He couldn't remember what she had answered after so many years, so he wrote that bullshit. Maybe he really visited Liliental and spoke with Fischer, maybe he did not: how can we know? One can write such a shitty article without any interviews, after a few glasses of Booze.
