They did find that out but they weren't in the business to proof that Regina had an illegitimate child. They were in the business to proof she was a spy.

I see an imense large moral gap between false details on a birth certificate and lying to a friend that he is the father of your son. Moreover, this version implicates Regina and Nemenyi had sex. How would Regina know that Nemenyi is not the father?
