seems like if you try to stop them from using their feet you'll mess up other aspects of their bitework. I have no idea how you could stop them from using their feet.
To get them not to bounce is do-able if they have lots of drive. My girl bounced twice when she was younger, the first time, the helper did the usual turn face the dog and she reingaged. I freaked out since I had watched all this footage of dogs bouncing at the UDC nationals and hated seeing it. So Ivan had a idea, if she flew off again he'd drop the sleeve (already trained not picking up or lunging for a dead sleeve) before she could turn to reingage, then I'd call her back to me, he'd tease the crap out of her, send again. Worked perfectly, that frustrated her enough to piss her off and make her want to clamp down hard every time, she didn't bounce again until she got jammed bad years later, she still stuck the bite that jammed her, but bounced the next one, then never bounced again (she's 7 now). But there are some other things that go along with this and that's teaching the dog to get the bite even if it's not perfectly presented. Have the decoy agitate the dog right in front on a harness but present the bite cocked 45 degrees sideways, then the other angle, then a late presentation from over his head as the dog is coming in etc. Getting the dog to think that he better persue his target harder and actually think on his way in to bite, about the target, or he'll lose it, not just get to turn around and reingage, they get too used to the sleeve being a perfect presentation every bite, so on the long bite when it doesn't line up just right due to them, or the helper it throws them off. and yes my female does lead with her feet: ) This worked great for her and another mali in the club that bounced a couple times, but it won't work for the ones that do it for confidence reasons, it'll make it worse.
