Yes, there were offshoots from the Jewish religion... Christ lead one himself. Catholics were considered a cult at one time too.

FB: But today from a mainstream Christian point of view being a cult is evil. And they pound and thrash this word at the world to prove that the mormons are nothing more than brainwashed robots. This is a lie. And most anti's know this.

It would be neat if the Church established by Christ had been re-established on the earth, however, I believe that someone with more worthiness will probably do that.

FB: Is any man ever worthy of his calling? With the exception of Job, what other prophets could not have been considered con men. Do you think the Egyptians thought Moses was a prophet? He murdered. And Jonah, now there was a prince. Noah was a drunkard. Lot had sex with his daughters. Abraham was going to sacrifice his only son through Sarah. Joseph Smith admitted that he was not perfect. He admitted that he made many mistakes in his life. You expect a prophet to be perfect, and they just are not. The man who Christ chose to lead his church after his death, denied him three times. One of his chosen followers betrayed him. Don't come down on Joseph Smith because he had faults. He had a calling, and because of that calling God had to work with imperfect man, just as he always had.

Joseph Smith was a conman and admitted to the fact himself. (I'll clear that up for you.) He admitted that he was a treasure hunter.

FB: Wrong... He admitted to helping Josiah Stowell dig for treasure. He was hired to do so. And in fact persuaded Josiah to stop digging for treasure. This upset Josiahs sons. And you know what for all the lies that have been told about him swindling Josiah, Josiah was a mormon and remained so until his death. He defended Joseph Smith and tried to put down all the rumours that had been told about him.

Treasure hunters in the 1800's around western new york were bent on trying to find precious metals, relics and gold. They were often seen as public nuisances and frauds. Any person who used a mediumship such as a seer stone during that time period received much skepticism.

FB: Oh my goodness. I don't know what history you are reading, but I would really love to know where you go this from.

It wasn't until the 1950's to 1970's that mediumship was given some level of credibility and tests were created for a medium to prove his/her abilities. Joseph Smith lived in a time when there were no measurable ways to prove whether he really possessed a talent to treasure hunt.

FB: He had a talent for hard work. He dug along with others who had hired men to dig for the rumored treasure. Do you know what treasure they were suppose to be looking for?

Statistically, very few people who were treasure hunters, actually found any significant treasure. Joseph Smith described that he earned $14 a month while a treasure hunter, which leads me to believe that he must have conned people.

FB: You stated it right here. He earned $14 a month. Which logically means that he was hired to dig.

There simply wasn't enough treasure for him to make that much money a month. Certainly if God were planning to restore His Church on this earth, he would have chosen a better canidate.

FB: Lets see, who do you think would have been a better canidate? Perhaps someone who was educated? Perhaps someone who did not have to take any job they could get to help support his parents and their family. Joseph Smith hired out to other farmers for harvesting, planting etc. All of them asked for his help again and again because he was a hard worker. But you won't ever hear about his from anti mormons. All you will hear is that he was a con man. Lets take a look at what a con man is. Usually a con man will con people out of their money for their own increase. Tell me what did Joseph Smith benefit out of his con? He owned very little when he died. He made no money on the Book of Mormon. Tell me what did this con man gain?
