Well hiyaz peeps ! Hope all is well on this Labor Day weekend. Why ain't U in there fragging damn it ! oh yeah, and USE AIM ! lolol Anyways, as I have said before I'm not AT ALL happy with the way TF2 turned out. What a shame it could have been so much better. Now it's all about the "achievements" instead of playing the game. Thanx Valve, you always did suck. I'm checking out the possibility of have a few different game nights. I'm looking at setting up COD4 (Modern Warfare) and COD5 (World at War) nights. As usual, anything I do with the server will be posted here on on www.bargeofthedead.com soooooooo in the mean while get in on the server and FRAG !

sup guy's... its nice to see after 8 years the barge is still sailing :) If you dont remember me, i used to be admin on barge a good 7 to 8 years ago ;) And used to run BOD2 back in the days :P Well i do have a TF2 Server up if you guy's want to try it out.. 208.167.246.104:27015 My community has been up for about 6 years now :) We should play a game again just like old times :D

I'm not so sure anymore that I'm gona put up a TF2 server. I don't like the way the game is turning out. Everybody plays for the achievements and not the fun of the game. Plus there is a whole new breed of hackers and they have to be handled diffrently than the methods used for TFC and I just don't feel like dealing with those jerkoffs. On top of that Valve is releasing some new update every week and it totally fucks with my configurations. So in an attempt to increase circulation on the Barge, many people don't like playing with BOTS, myself included. I would much rather have live players, so I have temporarily suspended the automated BOT spawn and will leave it to the individual Admin-Bot-Commanders to activate and deactivate the BOTS as needed. This means the server will be available for live players without bots most of the time. Enjoy it and remember to visit www.bargeofthedead.com for the Rules of Engagement. They are STRICLY enforced. Now get in there and frag !

I don't see the need to personally attack anyone's ethnicity. While it is true some people refer to others of the same race by these names, more often then not, other's use these names in a derrogatory manner. Hence, I do not allow it as it is not relevant to the game. I have no problem dancing on ones corpse, such as: die fucker and so forth, but it is not necessary to refer to ethnicity. My appologies if this does not meet with your approval but until or unless someone else pays the bills around here, I don't really need approval. I do discuss this amongst all admins and they are all in agreement along with most of my regular players. I'm sure if you really want to you can play without resorting to the use of certain words. Many servers do not allow cursing. I do, just not personal attacks on ethnic background.

Looks like there will be an additional delay.

The pump replacement and plumbing work was successful. The replacement computer power supply that I took out of stock is questionable and I'm ditching it for a brand new CoolMax 550.

The added delay is due to the discovery of a failed liquid coolant controller board. A new one is on the way along with a new power supply, both expected to be delivered on Aug 12/13. The server should be back in operation on or about those dates.

As for TF2, the jury is still out on this. I've been playing it on the Doorman servers and I'm not so sure I want to transition the barge over to TF2. There's more and more stupid shit going on with TF2 than I care to deal with. First, there are the constant updates from Valve. Unfortunately when they do this it wipes out all your customization requiring me to re-customize every time. Secondly, there's all these stupid achievements. People are playing for the achievements and not for the fun of the game. Thirdly, I have to deal with hackers in a different way than I do with TFC. Sadly, there seems to be a shit load there and until I'm prepared to deal with them I can't raise the server on TF2. Hence, the new web site will NOT go on line until the server does, IF it does.

As for absent admins, I will deal with that.

That's about all to report for the time being. Sorry for the delays but shit happens.

The Barge WILL rise again in short order.

Well now where shall I begin. TF2 - THUMBS DOWN. I can't believe after all these years there is this failed attempt at making TFC 1.5 better. Why in the world would you take out an integral part of the game, nades, just because some assholes spam with them ? Here's a novel approach, how about admins doing their jobs and punishing wrong do'ers instead of the entire community by taking the nades out completely. Maybe a nifty plug-in or a programming change to restrict the availability of nades or reduce the amount that can be carried. Nooooo, that's way to smart. Let's punish everyone by taking them out. Brilliant, just brilliant ! After playing with nades for 7 years I went in on an assault and when I tried to fend off an attack with some nades, there were none, of course, and I was eventually killed. Then to add insult to injury there is this lousy, counter strike, 15 second respawn delay which is exactly why I hate CS ! When I come in to play I want to play not stand by and watch. I can't believe these people spent all this time improving the games graphics only to ruin it with the nade ban and delayed respawn. What the hell are they thinking ! Then have the nerve to bundle it with Episode Two, Portal, HL2 and HL2:E1 ! I already had HL2 & HL2:E1, why should I have to pay for it again ! Why can't I just by the ones I want ? Because these blood sucking leaches need to make more money and won't even listen to our complaints ! In all fairness HL2:E2 is excellent ! Portal is different but after 19 levels it's boring ! It's just puzzle solving until you reach a point that's impossible to solve - boring ! As for TF2 I was complaining I wasn't getting enough info to convert my server to TF2, now they can kiss my ass. It's not worth the aggravation to convert to something that is more like CS and less like TFC. They are supposed to be 2 different games - MORONS, VALVE HAS MORONS ON THEIR TEAM ! So, basically it cost me $49.95 for HL2:E2 (about 10 hous of play) and that's it. THANX VALVE ! Portal is DONE ! As soon as the newness of TF2 wears off, TF2 will be done TOO ! They ought to stick to what they do best (Half-Life) and stop trying to fix what isn't broken. Here's a good one for ya. When I complained in the the Valve forum about the nades I was told, "nades are NOT coming back so stop asking !" and they closed the thread. Let me guess, ur nose a little out of joint from SO MANY REQUESTS ! How about listening to the people who pay your salary by buying the games instead of slaming the door in their faces ! Ya bunch of JERKOFFS ! If I voice this opinion there, they will throw me out so I'd advise none of you to give them your two cents or they will close your STEAM account. DOUCHBAGS !

Well, I've just seen and played TF2 and I must say, I'm rather disappointed. So much so, that I may NOT change Da Barge over to it. I haven't given up yet but I'm not enthusiastic about it either. What a let down. All these years in the waiting and THIS is TF2 ? ! I am NOT impressed ! On the upside, I have also played HL2: Episode TWO and it was excellent ! Portal is: different but after a while - boring. I think the folks at Valve should stick to what they do best - HALF-LIFE ! The episodic adventures are great, keep them coming, and of course, HL3 ! Oh and a word of advise, Don't fix what isn't broken ! TFC 1.5 ! OOOOO RAH !

Hey peeps, if you get a chance, go to this website and try out the best hard disk manager - ever ! FREE for 30 days. If you like it, buy it cheap for 30 bucks. I use this and it's the best I've ever seen. It doesn't interfere with gaming and you can't even tell it's running in the back ground. I use it on the server and my client terminals. It's great. Puts Microsoft Defragmenter to shame !

In case ur interested and don't know how to get TFC just go to www.fileplanet.com and type in the search area STEAM TFC and you will be directed to another page. The file you want is the STEAM INSTALLER for TEAM FORTRESS CLASSIC. It's 272.3mb so I hope you have broadband or this could take a while. Well peeps, dare I say, TFC2 "IS", actually, just around the corner ! I can't believe it ! I've been hearing about it for years and now......well given Valve's history I don't want to put the cart in front of the horse. However, I have been considering what I'm going to do with it. I will most likely set up Barge of the Dead 2 with TFC 2 on it. The IP will be the same but if you see BOTD2 you will know it's TFC2.x and if you see just BOTD then it's the former TFC1.x. The Rules of Engagement at www.bargeofthedead.com will apply and the BAN list will be carried over. I've seen the models and they look pretty kewl but I don't know anything about the maps yet, or the players who may be interested or the bots or the plugins or any of that stuff yet. I've been eyeballing the fortress-forever site lots of interesting info there. If anybody has any info they would like to share about TFC2 then speak up damn it ! LOL I will probably put BOTD2/TFC2 on line at least to check it out and maybe have certain days or weeks for it or maybe it will just suck and the regular BOTD will be back on. Either way I won't be doing away with BOTD 1 or 2 but depending on how it pans out will determine which one is running. It may be a smash hit with tons of players and, thankfully, no fucking bots or then again maybe TFC2 won't be released. NO ! NOT THAT ! SAY IT AIN'T SO ! LOLOL Anyway, speak up if got something to add. I'm always listening.

I received a package in the mail today from UPS and when I opened it up I was TOTALLY stunned and taken by surprise. I had absolutly no idea this was going on and I must say that I am totally speachless....and for me that takes a lot ! LOLOLOL I can only say, "thank you to one and all for your sentiments but I know you didn't mean it." LOL J/K. I still can't believe I got this package and I've read everything in it over and over. I never expected anything like this and it's difficult to find the right words. I am happy to have been able to provide the Barge of the Dead to the TFC community and to you all in particular who gave of your own time to help keep it on track. Your action affirms my determination to keep Da Barge afloat as long as I remain in this lifetime. I look forward to seeing you all on the Barge from time to time and hearing from you in e-mails or IM's and, oh yeah, I also appreciate the naked pictures some of you sent in of yourselves in a seperate mailer. (snicker, snicker, now they will try to figure out which ones sent them.) LOL

So I spent the weekend looking thru my numerous e-mails for order confirmations but couldn't find any. Then UPS shows up today and I spot them pull up in front of the house on the video cam and go out to meet them. He gives me the package and it's soft but it's from an electronics company. I still don't know what it is or what I ordered. So I head inside and tear it open and....well you know the rest. Totally stunned. I never expected this but will certainly cherish this as long as I'm allowed to stalk DA BARGE. So to all you hamsterbrains out there who participated in this, I will never forget you. WaRGAsM, BoB, JcMcLane, Harvey, Winnie, Noble, TCW, BlueHero, Kefka, Mack, Ace, Cereal, Fuzzy, WW, Doc, Fizz, Dave K, Sparkling Bitch and everyone else who participated in this venture, one way or another, thanx for the memories. or was that mamories. LOLOL
