 Chapter Two

The funeral took place hours later. Ethan stood in a daze as he looked at Theresa in the coffin. Even in the worst, she was so beautiful. So angelic. She didn’t even look dead. She looked like she was sleeping.

Ethan felt the tears well up in his eyes as he realized again that she would never know the depth of his love. He would never again see that beautiful smile, or those gorgeous eyes.

" God" Ethan said out in anguish, " I’d give anything for her to come back to me". I need her."

" Who do you need Ethan ?"

Ethan froze. It was Gwen. He should have never slept with her. He knew it had been a mistake. He had felt nothing. He only felt disgust toward himself for taking things so far. She wanted a commitment, and he couldn’t give her one. She said she loved him, but he couldn’t seem to get the words out. He couldn’t because he didn’t love her. He loved Theresa. He wanted Theresa. But this time he couldn’t have her.

" Ethan?" Gwen said again.

" Oh Gwen I was just thinking out loud . Um I need to talk to... my mother."

"Oh, ok Ethan. Well you go find her .I love you."

Ethan cringed and walked away. He walked around the mansion hoping he wouldn’t run into Gwen again. He was outside walking through the garden when he heard familiar voices. He realized they belonged to his mother and Rebecca.

" This day is absolutely wonderful," Rebecca said with glee. "Terrorcita is gone, and now I can take my rightful place as Mrs. Crane."

"I’m Mrs. Crane Rebecca. But you are right, now that the tramp is dead, she’ll never be able to bother us again. I can’t believe you plan worked."

" I told you Ivy, making Theresa believe Ethan killed Julian was brilliant.She loved him so much she died for him. It’s quite pathetic. It’s a tragedy I didn’t think of it sooner. Now Gwen can have Ethan and marry him like she should have."

" Yes. Gwen and Ethan. Ethan and Gwen.The way it should have been. Thank god Theresa’s dead."

Ivy and Rebecca suddenly heard a noise coming from behind them.

"Who’s there?"Rebecca said innocently.

Ethan walked out with a look of anger on his face.

" Ethan !" Ivy said with horror.
