The 56th Maint. Co. (LT)(DS) was not in Viet Nam during this period. It was stationed at Ft. Belvoir, VA. I don't know when it arrived on station, but during 1967 it had little assigned work on-post. In early 1968 the unit went TDY to Camp Drum NY, where it prepared equipment for upcoming summer activity. The unit received commendations for this work although considerable personnel turnover for Viet Nam was detrimental.
The unit was inactivated in late 1968.
