I recently opened the debate on what people would prefer the new stadium to be called. It has since been suggested that I should've allowed the option of the Westgate Interactive Stadium to be included...which I will now do.

I tend to sit on the fence a little on this one...although people who know me will say I'm telling porkies! But what I will say is...it matters not what the new Stadium is called I suppose because the important name that will always live on will be that of Skelmersdale United Football Club.

It's the dawning of a new era in United's history, and we have come a long way since the mid 90's. The ground move & the new sponsorship deal have proved to be a breath of fresh air...not just for the club but for the town in general. A lot of good things are happening in our town at the moment, and to be included in the regeneration is a bonus for us all. It looks unlikely that we will get into the Unibond at this stage, but perhaps that has come a season too soon for us. We have now established an alliance with football at all levels in the town, so from a community perspective things can only get better...and success is surely just around the corner? We are certainly heading in the right direction.

Overall Skelmersdale as a town has had some very bad press in recent years, and normally it has come from outsiders that haven't bothered to scrape the surface before passing judgement. We need to answer our critics with the positives, and show them what our town is really all about.

The regeneration is far from over but still we have a town to be extremely proud of. That could be further endorsed by the people of Skem getting out and supporting their local team. We have the fanbase to play at Conference level at the very least...and going back to where I started...it doesn't really matter what the stadium is called, all that matters is that the town embraces Skelmersdale United FC...121 years on we are still here!
