Subject: "Get friendly"-Therapy finished - grumbling Marc is back!

Hallo Ihr Lieben,

habe gerade Marc´s "My diary" entdeckt. Er klingt wieder wie früher, Begeisterung und Beleidigungen wechseln sich ab - nothing new there ;)!

*********************************************
Welcome to my new diary section. This is a forum for my comments, observations and general thoughts. Maybe I'll talk about some new recordings, something in the press, a current album I'm listening to, a favourite movie, a concert I've been performing or a DJ date. Anything really. It could be something completely trivial. It won't be a day-to-day diary but just sporadic when I want to talk about something and have the time to make an entry. Hope you enjoy it.

Neal and I rehearsed for our unplugged show at the Cathedral. It's hard after the recent A shows though there will be a nod to those shows, its something different again. No swearing and no songs like Amsterdam or Slave. The show will be more reverent, downbeat, bluesy, reflective and....spiritual!!....and more RAW and intimate. So many damn songs to remember at the moment, thank god for the old faves.
Heard about someone moaning about me doing S.H.W.G. the other day... Sorry, that song's been very good to me and it's my second most popular song, my most popular self written. Some people pay good money to hear only that, so I'll be singing it till I die!!!

Just seen some of the footage of the Almeida DVD, it looks FANTASTIC and the sound is excellent. Opening Russian songs suffer a little...don't get the intensity and hard to capture the projections to best effect, maybe have to overlay a little. This was one of my favourite parts of the show, I'd love to do a whole show theatrically presented like this, just tapes, lights, projections and atmosphere.
Glad so many people liked the shows. Such great reaction and from the press too. I HATE the second half being referred to as my Jazz set, was thinking of it as Blues and Classic Torch songs....and not such a new direction, I was doing the Soho Jazz Festival back in the 80's. I suppose it's so trendy now (by people who cant sing it!!!) And its too sophisticated for me! Why so many covers now? I suppose they need getting out of my system...a break from my own suffocating songs for a while. If I am writing new songs???? I intend to keep them mostly to myself for now until my never-ending publishing mess can be sorted out.
Sorry if you don't like my new direction, only intend to do what makes me happy from now on, please myself first and foremost (NOTHING NEW THERE) If you get me and want to come along for the ride, great! If you don't then see you later!

Bis die Tage,
viele Grüße
Claudia
