Basically an auditorium test is this:
≈ 100 listeners, 50 are primarily listeners to a station and 50 are primary listeners of its competitors.

They're paid some sum of money to fill in anywhere from 400-600 opinions from 1 to 7 on song samples they hear... as well as take hand-written and scantron surveys about talent and music preferences.

This is all then compiled by a research firm and given over to a station (or group of stations) so they can better serve their listeners and hope to woo listeners from the competition.

FM 100 had one of these in mid October. I'd imagine there have been some musical changes since then due to it.
