A 'Welcome' smartcard solution for EMV migration
PETALING JAYA: CSA MSC Sdn Bhd (CSA MSC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Computer Systems Advisers (M) Bhd, has formed an alliance with Welcome Real-time to offer the latter's XLS as a dynamic smartcard solution for EMV (Europay-Mastercard-Visa) migration in the Malaysian market.

The alliance will also see CSA MSC becoming Welcome's (www.welcome-rt.com) hosting partner in Malaysia. With this, banks in Malaysia would be able to add real-time loyalty programmes to their EMV chipcards, CSA MSC said in a statement.

"The main objective of this partnership is to focus on the provision of easy-to-deploy value added services to banks which are leveraging their current EMV migration, and to other card issuers," said Nevin Low, CSA MSC assistant general manager.

"Malaysia is one of the leading nations in Asia driving the EMV migration, intended to reduce debit and credit card fraud and provide cardholders access to enhanced services by transitioning from magnetic stripe to smartcard technology," he added.

Embedded with microprocessors, EMV cards can support multiple cross-industry merchant and loyalty programmes, providing cardholders with the added benefit of having various loyalty campaigns designed by the issuer and participating merchants, the company said.

"CSA MSC is committed to give full support to banks and card issuers in the area of EMV migration solutions and services, such as providing loyalty application hosting, loyalty data management and point-of-sales (POS) terminal management and campaign management," said Low.

Welcome's ability to deliver targeted loyalty incentives at POS makes loyalty programmes far more effective, CSA MSC said.

It allows the Malaysian company to offer local EMV card issuers, acquirers and merchants the ability to identify the programme-specific spending behaviour of the cardholder and thus offer instant delivery of targeted incentives to enhance customer relationship and retention.
