Sharp to sell notebook with 3D
Correspondents in Tokyo
September 12, 2003

JAPANESE high-tech giant Sharp said it will launch a notebook computer in Japan and the United States next month that can show three-dimensional (3D) images.

The computer, part of the Mebius series, will be the first notebook computer that can show 3D images without users having to wear special glasses, Sharp said in a statement.

The 3D function of the computer, which will be sold first for corporate clients, can be used for a variety of applications, including architectural drawing, advertising, games, and broadcasting, the company said.

The computer can also show normal two-dimensional images for operations such as word processing.

"We will work to expand the 3D business by cooperating with other firms," Sharp said.
