Date Posted: Wednesday, February 12, 08:43:54am In reply to: a contract awarded- EDS systems integrator-project 3/1/02 's message, "SchlumbergerSema will initially provide 600,000 it'sCyberflex Access smart cards-part of" on Tuesday, February 11, 01:39:40pm DoD to use Identix fingerprint technology ----------------------------------------------------------- 06/02/2003 ----------------------------------------------------------- Identix Inc. has revealed that the US Department of Defense has chosen to license the company's BioEngine fingerprint-recognition technology. ----------------------------------------------------------- Financial terms weren't disclosed. ----------------------------------------------------------- Shares of Minnetonka-based Identix were at $4.59 midday Tuesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market, up 49 cents, or 12 percent. ----------------------------------------------------------- The security technology company said the department will use the license to upgrade fingerprint record files of all military and civilian personnel. ----------------------------------------------------------- Identix said its latest version of BioEngine provides stronger matching algorithms for rapid fingerprint enrollment, verification and/or identification applications. ----------------------------------------------------------- The company said the Defense Department has used Identix hardware and software since it began to capture automated fingerprints in 1996. ----------------------------------------------------------- However, the company expects potential large-scale identification and national security-related programs to boost demand for its biometrics technology.
