Date Posted: Wednesday, February 12, 07:19:43pm In reply to: Identix/Datacard/ERG/Proton DOD have used since 1996 's message, "DOD--license the company's BioEngine fingerprint-recognition technology-6/2/2003." on Wednesday, February 12, 08:43:54am ActivCard reports $45.5 million loss 10/02/2003 ------------------------------------------------------------ ActivCard, a provider of remote access, secure sign-on and digital ID card solutions, reported a net loss of $45.5 million, as compared to $16.7 million for the same period the year before. The ailing group reported that revenues for the year increased 34% to $41.8 million compared to $31.2 million for the year ended December 31, 2001. ------------------------------------------------------------ In the fourth quarter of 2002, ActivCard reported its fourth consecutive quarterly revenue increase, achieving revenues of $12.1 million, an increase of 79% over the $6.8 million reported in the fourth quarter of 2001 and 1% higher than the third quarter of 2002. ----------------------------------------------------------- The results for 2002 include a write-down of other intangible assets of $5.1 million, restructuring charges of $8.6 million and a loss from discontinued operations of $16.8 million. Net loss, in accordance with U.S. GAAP, for the fourth quarter of 2002 was $9.2 million, or $0.22 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $9.8 million, or $0.24 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2001 and $2.9 million, or $0.07 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2002. Pro forma net loss for the fourth quarter of 2002 was $1.4 million, or $0.03 per diluted share, compared to a pro forma net loss of $6.2 million, or $0.16 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2001 and $1.2 million, or $0.03 per diluted share, in the third quarter of 2002. Pro forma net loss for the quarter excludes acquisition-related charges, re-incorporation costs, deferred stock compensation charges, restructuring charges, foreign exchange gains and losses, and the loss from discontinued operations. ----------------------------------------------------------- "We are very pleased with the revenues we achieved in the fourth quarter and our 2002 growth rate of 34% is at the high end of the objectives and guidance we provided at the beginning of 2002," commented ActivCard Chief Executive Officer Steven Humphreys. "We established a leadership position in the U.S. government during the year, which drove our revenue to record levels. We believe our recently completed re-incorporation as a U.S. company will position us well for further growth in U.S. government markets in the coming years." ----------------------------------------------------------- [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
