Date Posted: Thursday, February 13, 06:25:49pm Trade Group Issues Report On Privacy And Smart Cards ------------------------------------------------------------ The Smart Card Alliance, an organization of vendors and users that promotes smart cards, has issued a white paper that makes the case that smart cards can protect privacy. Entitled "Privacy and Secure Identification Systems: The Role of Smart Cards as a Privacy-Enabling Technology," the report can be downloaded at no charge from the organization’s Web site, www.smartcardalliance.org. "For those who have access to private information, smart cards ensure only legitimate users can access information, and they can only access the information they need to do a specific task," says Robert Donelson, senior property manager for the Bureau of Land Management of the U.S. Department of the Interior. "Other information that may be in the system can be kept confidential." ( 2003-02-13 ) [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
