The clutch will not let the starter spin at all, i know it tok nearly 12 months to find out, the side stand switch would not let the starter spin either, as both are apparently a prevention system.

Now many moons ago i had a gpz750R and it would spin but not fire, or at least try to fire occasionally.
I was young clueless and barbaric, burnt starter out and gave up. I found out later it was the HT leads having bad connections.
few weeks ago i started suffering a bad start up on the ZZR1100, so this weekend i whiped the tank and filter box off, whilst fitting new plugs, i noticed one plug cap has a split, which i sprayed up and then taped up, and another cap had green colouring on the Plug cap ( once i unscrewed it) its like a mould or dust.
Anyway just snipping 5 or 10 MM off the end of the HT lead and then cutting the outer shroud back usually works.
In this case it did wonders, starts fine back to full power, some would say plugs did this but from experience on jet skis these things are critical.
worth an hour of your time.
