Connect one of the calipers directly to the master cylinder bypassing the splitter and top brake line. Now when you bleed it through the brake lever should become solid pretty quickly, and I mean solid. Now disconnect that caliper at the master cylinder end and hang it upright via the connected brake line so that no air is re-introduced into the caliper and then do the same with the other one. So long as both of your calipers became solid and stayed that way you can re-connect everything knowing for fact that any air left in the system is between the splitter and the MC and that your calipers are ok. You already have banjo's on the splitter and MC so now is the time to use your pressure bleeder to push the rest of the air out but do not crack the caliper bleed nipples unless you want to risk reintroducing air into the system, only use the banjo's that you fitted. - I don't think tying the brake lever back to the bar over night will make a blind bit of difference, it just doesn't make any sense.
