Subject: Measuring drive chain tension

When ever I've adjusted the chain on my 600
I've allways measured the slack from the top
of the chain when pushed up and to the top
of the chain when pushed down to give 40mm.

The manual is a bit vague on this, but looking
at it, the slack could be measured from the
top when pushed up to the bottom when pushed
down, ie the 40mm figure includes the height
of the chain making it tighter.

My last adjustment was the 2nd way and it seems
to give better gear changes.
Just wondered which method others use?

Regards
John
