I got knocked off my 'busa and the bill was over 4 grand. They said it was a write off. Since the bodywork was custom-painted I sent back that I was willing to accept a payout of £3000 in lieu of damages and have the bike repaired to my own satisfaction, becuse since the bodywork is being re-sprayed I didn't need new ones and I would buy good "used" body panels and have them painted. They agreed and I got to keep my bike and had it put back how I wanted it.

Try negotiating they will do it sometimes.
