Herein lies the tricky part: If God is infinitely greater than us, how is it ever possible to know His will? What if God's will for us is much more than the closed-door-opened-door model we figured?

I think knowing God's will is more than the cause and effect consideration we often paid to the question. It is not so much "which is the right decision" as "does making this decision force me to be more aware of Christ".

Some decisions, like "should I murder 6 million Jews", definitely require you to think about the consequences. Other decisions... I don't know if there is really just one way in God's will (should I wear T-shirt or buttoned-down shirt). Instead of trying to figure out which category does your pending decision belong to, think about possibility of experiencing Christ through the process.

"Should I be going to church this Sunday?" Is there any doubt that the answer should be "yes"? But think again, is it possible to be going to church without going into Christ's presence? Henri Nouwen once said that we should do nothing (including things we usually consider to be religious) unless we clearly know that Christ is there with us.

Where is Christ? Take off the blinder of the soul and He is everywhere.
