Wow, this is not a happy film.

It's brilliant, but one of the most nihilistic films I've ever seen. The plot is pretty simple: a poor dumb everyman (Josh Brolin) stumbles upon the aftermath of a drug deal gone horribly wrong, and among the dead bodies and pickup truck full of heroin finds a satchel filled with cash. Taking it puts him in the crosshairs of a psychopath bounty hunter (Javier Bardem) who's weapon of choice is an air fired cattle gun. Also on hand is Tommy Lee Jones, as a sheriff hunting both men.

It seems that the Coen Brothers are best known or their comedies nowadays, but this takes them back to the sort of bleak dramas they did early on, like Barton Fink and Miller's Crossing. And Jesus Christ, is this thing bleak.
