just because I didn't read the LOTR books. I have several friends like you that are not pleased with what Jackson did to the books. They complained about stuff being out of order and things like that, but I really have nothing to compare it to, so I quite enjoyed them as fresh, new stories for me.

In fact, I didn't even see FOTR until about two months before TTT came out in theaters. I originally had no urge to see LOTR at all and then someone let me borrow it one weekend and I just remember getting completely hooked into it and not being able to take my eyes off the visuals (and wondering why TPM and AOTC couldn't look that realistic). For me, the LOTR trilogy took my second spot as all time favorite trilogy after the original Star Wars. Then again, I gave up reading massive literary works like Tolkien's stuff after college, so I have no frame of reference as to how Tolkien had it.
