Subject: The Joker.

Have read in a newspaper here that currently being touted for the role of The Joker in the next Batman movie are Paul Bettany, Crispin Glover, and the wild card - on the strength of his voice-work in the animated series - Mark Hamill.

Bettany's certainly ugly enough and I imagine that physically (in that regard) he'd fit the bill. I think he'd have a great head for it. Same with Glover. He's a serial weirdo, albeit one I never recall actually smiling.

Hamill would be a great choice, though. If you've seen the animated series, he's awesome. And I think it'd make a better contrast to have that persona coming from somebody not so strange-looking (like Bettany or Glover).

Of course it's early days yet, as the next Batman's still a couple of years away, but any thoughts?
