Subject: my ideas for remakes
In reply to: Dog of War 's message, "So what would you like to see remade?" on 14:30:20 10/21/05 Fri

I'm kind of partial to 80's movies that I grew up on. Films that I watch now and realize they weren't very well executed or have room for improvement.

I always liked the idea behind "My Bodyguard", the Matt Dillon-Adam Baldwin tough-guy movie. I recently watched it again and it definitely could use an update. The climatic fight scene at the end of the movie isn't as good as I remembered it. I don't really have any ideas for a new cast right now, sorry. In the original a never-to-be-heard-from-again Hank Salas played Matt Dillon's bodyguard. I thought he was pretty good. Maybe he could reprise the role.

I was also partial to big, sprawling stuffed-with-celebrities flicks like Treasure Hunt or Midnight Madness. I'm thinking those could be redone. The original Midnight Madness was a Disney movie with David Naughton, Animal House's Stephen Furst, perpetual nerd Eddie Deezen and the first silver-screen appearance of Michael J. Fox. It was about 5 teams that followed clues around Los Angeles to win a game concocted by a scruffy-looking slacker. There was a nerd team, a jock team, a sorority team, a good team and a bad team. Definite potential for a remake.

Treasure Hunt was in the same vein, family members go on a scavenger hunt to win their dead relative's fortune.
