That's a real pet peave of mine. It used to be an extremely rare occurance on SNL. When David Spade lost it during that first Matt Foley skit, I remember thinking that it was a big deal. It happenned so rarely that when it did happen, it truly was funny.

Like you said, Adam Sander changed all of that by laughing his way through a number of his skits.

Jimmy Fallon took it to a whole different level by literally jacking up every single skit he was in. Then he and Horatio Sands would just giggle and make funny faces until the skit's time was up. That was frickin annoying. It was like watching a home movie of my college friends. It's fun if you're involved in it, but annoying if you're not.

Phil Hartman was a pro at staying in character. Even during the Matt Foley skit, he was the only person to kept a straight face from beginning to end.
