I am only mildly familiar with the comic book character on which this movie is based, but I do believe he was British. Needless to say, Keanu Reeves don't do British. However, he has seem to found his niche as the reluctant bad-ass loner who must save humanity (see The Matrix triology for further evidence) and his performance in this movie didn't bother me one bit. The movie takes various elements of the Hellblazer character's comic book trevails and mixes them up into this, which probably irks some of the more ardent fanboys, but to the casual viewer, it fit in with the story well. Speaking of the story, I would attempt to relay it to you here, but I don't have that kind of time. This is a movie that requires your attention and the ability to fill in gaps based on past images really comes in handy.

Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale makes an appearance as the Devil's minion and doesn't embarrass himself as much as he did when he wrote "Glisterine." Peter Stormare shows up as Satan himself and adds the same whimsical touch that he did to the Slippery Pete character on Seinfeld.

Overall, not bad. Maybe rent the DVD or catch a matinee.
