I really think ebert just says tcrap like that to see himself quoted in commercials and on DVD boxes.

While the Bugs Bunny influence is clear in Kung Fu Hustle, there's really nothing in the film that is reminiscent of Buster Keaton or Quentin Tarantino, and the only similarity to Jackie Chan films is kung fu and Chinese people.

Honestly, I don't know that the film is for everyone. It's REALLY silly, and doesn't take itself remotely seriously. THe ads are horrible though, and I probably wouldn't have seen it based merely on them if I hadn't already been familiar with Chow's work.
