Subject: good points about the watering down of movies

It seems like every movie that comes out now is PG-13. This is especially troublesome for pictures released in the horror category, like The Grudge and The Ring 2. I understand there is a lot of movie involved in making these pictures, but the benchmark of a good horror (read: slasher) film should be the originality and bloodiness of the victim's deaths. They are taking that away from us.

There is a good joke in "Be Cool" about the how the F-word can be used in a PG-13 movie. Just say the f'n word twice and take the R!

I caught some of the Bears last night on HBO too while flipping channels. I always end up watching some of it. After seeing that pile of crap "Kicking & Screaming", it was nice to see how a picture like this should be made. I also realized just how much that crummy movie lifted from the Bad News Bears. But, in K&S's defense, every other movie about kids playing sports did the same thing. Although the one thing the Bears did differently was that they didn't win. I don't think a film today would take that route. Too many "focus groups" and whatnot telling us what we need to see.

I'm actually looking forward to the remake. I think Billy Bob Thornton is an inspired choice as the new Buttermaker (I hope they keep the name). He has this ability to make you think he hates you while still being likeable. That should come in handy while doing a movie with kids. I saw they changed the team sponsor from bail bonds to a strip club, so maybe it won't be that PC.
