I just saw The Forgotten last weekend.

I liked it more than you did, probably because my expectations were very low.

For the most part, I found it to be a fun "popcorn" movie. However, it could have been so much better if the director wouldn't have hurried it a long so quickly. I felt as if the movie was under pressure to not be longer than an hour and a half. Thus some of the plot and characters had to pay the price.

Two things that REALLY bothered me:

1) The Secret Government Agent Guy. Let me get this straight. This guy is an undercover government agent, so presumeably he's highly trained. Yet, once he's tied to a chair and slapped around a couple times, he starts spilling the beans on confidential information that could destroy the planet if revealed?

2) The lady police officer. I've seen that actress in other movies. She's not bad. However, the character and dialogue were ridiculously generic. She was ready to believe Juliane Moore's character's insane story without thinking twice. Plus she was somehow able to locate Moore by some random phone call that came in on her cell-phone. No explanation whatsoever of where the information came from other than "she's been spotted at this house". Also, her scene with the government agents was laughable, as she tried to sound smarter them with unfounded sarcasm.

On the other hand, here's what I really liked about it: I haven't seen a movie that generated so many well done "jump out of your seat" moments since Misery or perhaps Arachnaphobia. Everyone in the theater was completely freaking out during those scenes. Personally, I only jumped twice, but that's twice more than any movie's made me do in years.
