Given the media and governments are dominated pro-right wing and corporate smudges, an alternative is needed. I'm not particularly fussed that he goes off half baked sometimes.

hes done some great stuff on 'The Awful Truth', he blows his own trumpet quite a bit ("I've been on the bestseller list for x weeks") but again It doesn' bother me, he's like a shock jock for the left. But he's kind apolitical in that he gives the democrats plenty as well.

Fronting up to the gun lobby like he does is dangerous and there aren't many media people or politicians who'll do the same. He's got to be congratulated for that. Much of the time he doesn't need to climb on to the soap box, he just confronts people with teh consequence of their actions. Like when he took the kid to Wal Mart with the bullets - just let the situation speak for itself, quite brilliant. Current affiars could learn a bit from him.
