Subject: Re: Sling Blade (and a note for Walt K).

Finally saw this movie, which was good'ish until the very end. That was just too predictable. The moment they met it was obvious Karl (Billy Bob Thornton) was eventually going to kill Doyle (Dwight Yoakum).

Additionally, at the close of the film Billy Bob's back in the Nuthouse. I don't think so. Look at the final events:

~ Karl tells Vaughn (John Ritter) that Doyle's in a bad drunken mood, and that he should pick-up Linda (Natalie Canerday) and Frank (Lucas Black). Karl then declines offers to stay over.
- Karl sharpens his knife.
- Karl kills Doyle.
- Karl calls the police, also asks for an ambulance or an hearse.
- Karl sits down and makes himself a sandwich.

These are rational, premeditated acts, and would result in Karl being tried and sentenced to a normal prison.

Anyway, just had to get that off my chest.

Lastly, Walt, I resent your eventual inference in threads below that Dwight Yoakum played a "villain." He played a "redneck"! They all behave the way he did in the movie, don't they? Nothing villainous about it.
