I believe you're right in the word zombie never being uttered in the movie.

Despite it's extremely low budget, I still really like the original. Yes, it's more of a social commentary than a real horror movie, but it's a commentary that I thought was valid (though admittedly it does kind of get hammered over and over in the film).

Ving Rhames...I honestly can't think of anything he's been in where he gave a bad performance (though he HAS been in some bad movies, Striptease and MI:2 come to mind).

And no, this is not a movie that children should be taken to. Even compared to most R rated movies, this is a really intense viewing experience. I think if I'd been taken to see this at a young age I wouldn't be able to sleep for a week.
