Subject: About young children seeing these films

Stephen King does a column on the back page of Entertainment Weekly magazine semi-regularly. A recent article detailed his experience seeing The Passion of the Christ and how a mother made her child (under the age of ten) see the film with her for obvious religious reasons. The child continually buried her head during the brutal scenes but eventually tired of the act. From there, she just watched the film and absorbed it all with a look of sadness and horror on her face.

King said that he was embarrassed to be in the same theater with her mother because the poor girl would likely have some terrible nights thinking about the movie. Though the film was a documentary-like take on the last day of Christ's life and should be seen by those with faith, it should be used for later viewing for young children such as this poor little girl. I thought that was a very poignant comment to make.

While Dawn of the Dead is certainly not must-see viewing (except for us horror nuts), it definitely shouldn't be seen by young impressionable minds.
