Brian actually filed a complaint about me having a portable goal and having my trashcan on the side of my house, but in view from the street. He did this while his can was in his driveway everyday facing the street as well.

I received a call from Joan with our association management because of the formal complaint he made, so I am not surprised that he is finally going after the other goals.

Previous boards have discussed this on more than one occasion and decided that portable goals were ok, but you could not install a permanent one. I was on one of those boards. I feel bad for anyone who purchased a goal based on that long standing interpretation of the rule. Now they may lose their goal because we have elected some power hungry guys who want to pick the covenants apart line by line. We have always had a pretty reasonable board, but with these new additions, we are starting to build one of those boards everyone has nightmares about.

If you have a basketball goal and want to keep it but cannot make it to the meeting, give these guys a call and let them know how you feel about it. Also, if you are dying to pay higher dues, call them and give them some praise on their progress. You may have higher dues within the next year or two.
