's message, "show me" on Sun, Aug 30 2009, 17:30:56 Just a couple points: HOA meeting agenda's, to my knowledge, have not been published prior to the meetings, only after in the minutes. On the agenda, we have homeowner comment - and the content therein is not pre-determined either. So the only way for a home owner to know what is going on - is to come to the meetings, or ask one of the board members. You can see by my posts, I try and keep everyone informed as best I can. The fact is that these courts have been an issue for the last 3-4 years that I am aware of. Fact is after the back boards came down last time - the park was busy with families again. Once the back boards came back up - problems returned. Fact is I tried to start a neighborhood watch, and only 5 people wanted to get involved. My thought is - it's difficult for the board when homeowners only want to get involved occasionally. We have chosen to take an action necessary in order to combat a problem we have been hearing about for the last several years - on the agenda or not. If your thought is since it's not on the agenda, it's not a problem - I hope it's not your daughter that hangs out down there after hours. We have tried talking to the teens in the park, only to get garbage thrown at us, or cussed at. We tried rules. We tried cameras. We tried Signs. Nothing to date has worked. One last thing to consider - there are teens practicing safe sex in the park, as evidenced by the condoms we have picked up. I would assume there is likely those not following the same practice... is it your daughter? Could it be your son? Are you ready to be grandparents? I'm not saying that taking the goals down will completely stop the things going on there, but it will eliminate one thing that does draw the guys to the park, who in turn draw the girls to come hang out too. Part of the boards job is to keep the park safe for our families. If this helps, it's worth the loss. And yes - my daughter is pissed at me, as she loves to play ball. So maybe we get a portable like the 133 other homes have. And maybe we put in something that more of the community can use, maybe something that the adults will enjoy using. I'm tired of catering to the teens. The police won't do anything. The home owners typically don't want to do anything as most of us are very busy. If the kids are pissed because the goals are coming down - it's because of the things they allow to happen in their park, and the parents that allow their kids down there after 11pm. We are trying to make it a safer place. I'll get off my soap box now... [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
