 Do I think Ari is smart enough to pull this off? In all honesty, I don't really think it takes that many smarts to create a new identity and be a jackass.

The way that a lot of Mitch's posts are very incoherent while others are pretty well articulated, seems to indicate to me that it's someone trying really hard to change their writing style to really throw everyone off.

Yes Kevin...Kimmy and I were just talking about the fact that it's awfully coincidental that Ari just happened to post that he 'won't be around for awhile'.......seems like he's trying just a little too hard to make us think he's not, um, around.

Here's what I think. Ari has a laptop.....as exciting as his trek across America is, all the driving is getting a little tiresome. And with gas prices as high as they are, and him not even working to bring in an income, I can't see him doing as much travelling as he might lead us to believe. Who could afford it now? So...I think he spends more time "parked" (be it at his grandmother's, friend's place, hostel, hotel, etc)......and a tourist can only play tourist for so long........so he gets bored, wants a few laughs, is probably a little lonely......so what better way to entertain himself and pass the many 'free' hours he has in a day than create a new personna and have some laughs at DP'ers expense?

Ari's a little sh*tdisturber.....and I can see him just letting loose and having some 'fun'......but of course he knows he couldn't get away with it as "Ari"....

In one of the links I posted above (DP posts), Ari even calls Mitch "Mitchy".....now that's just plain weird.

I don't know. All the evidence pointing to Ari is just circumstantial, and I've always been uncomfortable jumping to such conlusions. On the other hand, I have to admit that the evidence, however circumstantial it may be, is pretty damning. I'm leaning.

Could also explain why he's always reminding us that he's in his upper 40s.

After rereading the earlier posts, we do have this much "proof": whoever Mitch is, he's definately someone posting in a "dumbed-down" persona.

If it is ari, I would expect him to come out and say something like, "See? I fooled you all along." I'd like to leave some vague hints somehow that we're on to him.

See? All this from someone who's not even completely convinced.

Kimmy and I were discussing the same thing, that "Mitch" spends a little too much time trying to remind everyone that he's in his 40's, that he's "older"...and he's always made several references on DP (and in PM to me) that he's from New Jersey (or New Joisey, as he put it).......it's almost like he's going out of his way to convince us all that he's someone else, or not someone we might already know.

Think about it, too.......If Mitch really IS in his 40's, how could have have so much time to post dang near every 15 minutes on DP? Okay, I guess he could be retired or something........maybe. But who else has a ton of time on their hands? ARI.

Also....notice that Mitch often started threads, asking DP'ers to tell more about themselves.....but he really never offered much info about himself? Why not? I know why......tell as little as possible when you're making stuff up, because it could come back to bite you in the ass should you ever 'screw up' down the road.

Notice the email address in Mitch's profile: ABC@yahoo.com It's bogus, and I know this cuz I just tried to email him ....came back/was returned cuz it's bogus.

Now let me ask you this. When you sign up at DP, you are told to give a valid, 'real' email address.......so why would a "newbie" enter a BOGUS one......how would they "know" that they could still register at DP with a bogus addy?

In the "circumcision thread"......both Ari and Mitch are flingin' off the URL's/links to circumcision info/sites.........coincidence? I don't know.

Oh, and in that thread, Ari posts to Mitch that he 'respectfully disagrees' with him....um, since when is Ari so POLITE when disagreeing with someone? I mean, not saying Ari is ever 'mean' but he's usually not sweet and sugary like that, no?

Lastly....notice how whenever Ari gets called onto the carpet by anyone on DP, he never (rarely) becomes riled......never seems to lose his temper, responds very passively, calmly..........well Mitch does the same thing, right?

Smoking tobacco or worse "pot" drinking beer and us boys letting our hair grow long in the 60's and listening to the Beatles - Stones and even the mild clean cut good boys, Peter Noone and the Herman's Hermit's and not going to church with the family or watching too much TV, or listening to too much radio/stereo/records was considered rebelious against our society and parents. I suppose this odd areas piercing is a far reaching extension of that. Enjoying all your posts on the topic! Yes, I've seen lots of
girls having the multiple ear piercings. That's OK with me.. with a little gold or whatever stone in each. Studs... and tongues.Hmmmmmmmm........can't warm up to that idea and without permission, like they would get it under 18, lol... Oh well, since I have no children, I won't have that problem directly, thank goodness!*

I had a cheap subscription to the magazine for $14 last year which I will not renew, but I have chosen to keep Playboy TV from $12.99 to $15.99 monthly. Then again, Directv did get raised $2. on all tiers last year....and my select choice, plenty for me.. $19.99 is $2l.99. I am so against much of the envelope pushed however.
Other news is Earthlink raised $2 a month and a bunch of D/Chrysler vehicles got called back for seatbelts. They are going to cover on MSNBC, Dubbya's drop in the polls tonight. I think his job approval, as president is the lowest for a President in more than 5 years!!

Not sure who you're thinking "Mitch" might be, based on those posts. If you don't want to say here, mail my private inbox on DP LOL

There seem to be a few similarities in those posts to, maybe, Rawlin's style? But with the state of his health, and Tracey's post a week or so ago about his cancer spreading/health deteriorating, I just can't see Rawlin duping us all like that....particularly when a) he knows that so many of us care so much about him.....b) surely he has better things to do in life then horse around on DP. Out of respect to his friends on DP, I just can't see him being Mitch. Not sure if that's who you might have been thinking of?

Well, If it's not Rawlin then it's his long lost clone - no one else can pop off dialect and ramble on about nothing and everything like that. But of course, Rawlin is in bed sick and dying and you're right, it would be pretty low for anyone to dupe one's friends like that. But I do enjoy Mitch, I think he's a gas and he gives everyone a puzzle to mull over, right?

Well, I've always had a bogus e-mail address in my profile too. But then, Mitch (were he a real person) strikes me as someone who would want everyone to be sending him e-mail, just to gab.

The way they both avoid/back down from conflict is interesting. I hadn't thought of that.

And yeah, I caught that "respectfully disagree" too. Very out of character.

All right, so how do we call him on it? Coincidences are easily explained away. Something like "Hey Mitch, how come you used to write in a different writing style and it suddenly dumbed down?" . . . Ari or not, I want to trip this guy up.

well, ari has always been one to post in an odd, illogical way. his leaps of reasoning can tend to leave one breathless and to wonder if he is experiencing the beginnings of a schizoaffective disorder. perhaps mitch is an alternate personality....
