With a kid that age, it's psychosomatic. A small child would have trouble swallowing a big pill, but most of them can swallow normal sized capsules or tablets by the time they're 6 or 7.

The easiest way to swallow a pill is to place it waaaaayyyyyyy back on the back of the tongue, take a big swig of liquid and tilt your head back as you swallow. It just slides right down. If it's a capsule filled with powder, you can mix the powder with some peanut butter and confectioner's sugar. Think medicated Reese's Peanut Butter Cup filling. LOL

Not sure what to do about that Hope. My 17 year old has problems once in a while getting them down too, but he doesn't refuse to try. I'm wondering if you put the pill in a spoonful of applesauce or his favor flavored pudding and had him swallow it that if that wouldn't work? Don't blame you on hesitating to buy the chewables, they are expensive. Did he ever get choked when he was smaller or had a very bad experience at one time???
