Subject: Compared to your age, what do you consider old?

I recently ran across someone who considered me "old" compared to them, and they made a great point of the fact that they were so much younger (and pretty, too!) than me. I thought it was really strange, because they're actually only 4 1/2 years younger than I am! Have any of you ever thought someone that close in age to you was "just a kid"(if they were younger) or "an old person" (if they were older)?

Heck, today I was talking to my 12 year old daughter about Ewan McGregor, and I said "he's pretty young, in his early 30's, I think", then I realized that to a 12 year old, that's probably ancient. When I mentioned that to her, she said "No, I don't think that's old at all!" Pretty much floored me. Now I have a horrible feeling that she's NOT going to want to date guys in her age group. LOL

I don't think of people by their age, I think of them by how they act. What I mean is, if an elderly man, say in his late 50's or early 60's, was out playing football with alot of younger kids, I wouldn't think that he was old, just a guy out having the time of his life. I truly believe in that saying, "You are as young as you feel!" Some days, I feel about 18 and other days, it is like I am walking hand in hand with Father Time.

To be honest, age is just a state of mind. I would have to say to anyone who was just 4 and half years younger than myself and thought *I* was an old gezzer, "SO WHAT!" *LOL*

Good point! Of course, it's possible to go too far in either direction. You have 20 year olds that act like they're 60, with no interests or hobbies, and 35 year olds that act like they're 6, and never grow up or accept responibility for their actions. It's always someone else's fault (but gee, the other guys wanted to stop and have 12 beers so I went along. It's not my fault).

I don't really take much stock in chronological age. I tend to look at the attitudes/lifestyles of people and that influences whether or not I think they are old.

I've met 25 year olds who are so set in their ways and unable to have fun that they seem old, and 83 year olds who are looking for new experiences and seem quite young.

We're the youngest people in our part of the neighborhood, but I feel like our neighbors (ranging in age from 69-83) are peers. They are vital, enjoy life, and are a lot of fun. I want to be just like them when I grow up. *G*

Depends on the person I guess. I hang out with co-workers who are my parents age. I don't have an age limit for friends but I did for dating back when, I would never date a man who would be considered in my parents generation. My mom is 52 and 20 years older than me.
