I enjoyed Planet of the Apes, though that ending makes it a really incomplete movie. I enjoyed the original movie, and, when I was younger, all of its sequals. When I got older, I realized only the first movie was actually "about" anything; the other ones were just "The Further Adventures of..."

Anyway, the original is still the best of the lot. But I'd say the new one is better than the original's sequals.

But I still don't understand why the astronauts in either movie aren't surprised that the aliens speak English. Of course, in both movies it's clear why they do, but if Heston was on what he believed to be an alien planet, why didn't he ever wonder why the Apes were speaking English?

I agree that the ending left alot to be desired.:-) And, I guess I was never really clear on how all that time passed. I mean, I understand he went through a sort of time warp I guess.

I also thought they could've gotten a better actor to play the main astronaut hero role, I forget his name - but that guy has about as much character, expression and depth as a stone.:-)

As far as other movies for me, I liked 'The Mexican', '3000 Miles to Graceland', and this past week '15 Minutes'. Oh, and yes, 'Chocolat' was a rich and wonderfully engrossing tale, I loved it! I'd also really like that chocolate sauce over fowl recipe, it looked yummy! I already make a wonderful baked cinnamon chicken (hush, JeffF;-)).

Hey, I was eating breakfast when I opened your revolting message. Cinnamon chicken - just the thought makes me sick.
What did the chicken ever do to you that you would do such a thing to it? The sooner all countries sign an international convention to outlaw cinnamon from the face of the earth, the better!!!!

Nonetheless, the new movie still felt very unresolved.

But when you think about, it makes more sense than the original movie. Heston's ship travelled for a thousand years en route to some alien galaxy. Okay, so why does it crash off the coast of New York?
